Indore is fast becoming one of the busiest and most advanced business hubs in India. It already is the biggest business center in central India. The Indian software boom has helped create new jobs and helped in the advancement of the city. Companies like CSCI (formerly PMS) and Impetus and thousands of smaller and mid-size companies have come up in the field of software. A Special Economic Zone is coming soon to boost software exports. Indore has been a hub for soybeans with most major companies in soya (inculding Ruchi Soya) operating from here. Indore is also a center for garment industry - although the old mills are no longer running Indore has remained as a major center for garments. Indore was always a major center for retailing industry - although new stylish shopping malls like "Treasure Island," and "Mangal City" have been built, the old markets near Jawahar marg, Rajwada & Siyaganj are still major contributors to the economy. New cinema - Velocity III. Indore is biggest contributor of revenue towards the Madhya Pradesh government. Indore is a major educational center of Madhya Pradesh with many engineering and management institutions. Devi Ahilya University (Indore University) is ranked amongst the top universities in central India. It also boasts of one of India's best business schools - the Indian Institute of Management, located on the outskirts of the city. |
