Indore is the economic and commercial center of the Malwa region and the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
It is the largest city in Madhya Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of the Indore District and Indore Division.

The weather in Indore is continental. During the winter, temperatures can drop to 2 °C or 3 °C with the summer midday temperatures reaching up to 45 °C. Unlike other places in central India, the summer nights in Indore are cool and pleasant. Because Indore's is situated on the southern end of the large Malwa Plateau, the hot summer days inevitably give way to a gentle cool breeze (also referred to as Shab-e-malwa) in the evenings.
